About Me and Sycamore Valley Greenhouse...
Sycamore Valley Greenhouse is right on the highway, yet "off the beaten path"! Welcome to our website!
Maybe this is a cliche opening line, but it's true: I've always loved growing things. As kids, my brother and I helped our parents in our vegetable garden and flower beds, planting, weeding, and helping Mom can the bounty later.
I entered a kids' contest in Flower and Garden magazine when I was about 10, and won a prize... my comment they published was "Crabgrass was my greatest worry." I guess that's still true, with the addition of Bermuda and Johnson, maybe!
My husband Ken and I have five grown children. We moved to Sycamore from Springfield, Missouri seven years ago when our youngest was still in high school. Many locals would recognize our location as Melvin Olsen's place. I've added a lot of flowers around the yard, partly because I can't bear to throw away plants that didn't sell. Tending to them does keep me busy, but as the saying goes, "it's a good busy". We have two grandchildren and another is expected in July; the older of the two, age five, loves to help me water plants when they come to visit. It looks like the gardening bug is awakening in another generation of our family!
Come see our selection soon! We look forward to helping you find just the right plants for your garden.
Happy gardening,
Erin
